Electric Vehicle Chargepoint FAQs

With reports predicting that electric vehicles will constitute a third of all car vehicles by 2030, there’s no doubt that more people are thinking about buying an electric car.

But as an emerging technology, you may have questions about the electrical vehicle you have purchased (or are looking to purchased) and how your home charge-point will work. We’ve put together the following FAQ’s to help you:

Yes. OZEV is the new name for OLEV. Nothing else about the scheme has changed.

The OZEV Grant is for residents of rental properties or owners of flats/apartments with designated parking spaces. It provides £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging point.

The OZEV Grant is available to residents of rental properties or owners of flats/apartments who meet the following criteria:
• You need to have purchased an eligible electric (or plug-in) hybrid vehicle from 1st April 2015 onwards.
• You must have off-street parking
• You must use an OZEV-approved home charging point installer.

Charging times depend on what chargepoint unit you have chosen and what vehicle you have. We can guide you through your options.

No. General electricians cannot fit your home chargepoint, they must be qualified.
In addition, the OZEV grant is only available to you if you use an OZEV-approved home charging point installer.

No. There is no further servicing required, however your electric vehicle will require servicing in the normal way.

All charge point units are covered under the manufacturer's warranty for 3 years.
